Then the fun starts. Putting back all the bits that were taken off ... remembering where they went ... and finding new replacements items for those which were just worn out.
I found this hearse in a back of another funeral director's garage tucked away for 20 years before I pulled it out and brought it back to Braunton.
Incredible what a coat of paint can do! After hours of stripping and sanding, we finally got paint on the body and what a difference that makes.
First trip out to help promote our Rotary Club's Braunton Wheels event. After 25 years of being laid up in a garage in South Wales and in Braunton during it's restoration, the Austin A60 Hearse is back on the road in August 2017.

Once back in Devon, it took up residency in one of my garages for a couple of years before we took the plunge and started to strip her down and find out what the bodywork looked like after all these years of being sat in South Wales.
After spending a number of hours having new panels cut in around the wings, we found that the rest of the car was sound. After I had removed the engine and gearbox, it was decided to give them a clean and spray up in the standard 'engine green', the way it would have been done when first manufactured. As the mileage was low and it ran ok when we first acquired the hearse, no work has been done to the engine so far. It was decided to get the engine and box back in before the full car was stripped back to the aluminium skin ready for spraying. .
